SEOUL, Sept. 25 (Korea Bizwire) — Hyundai Motor Co. said Thursday its Ioniq 9 electric sport utility vehicle (SUV) has received the highest safety rating of five stars from the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP).
The Ioniq 9 earned praise for maintaining a stable passenger compartment in crash tests and for its advanced safety features. In particular, the model scored highly in the child occupant protection category.
With the latest recognition, all of Hyundai Motor’s dedicated electric vehicles (EVs), including the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, have achieved Euro NCAP’s top rating.
Euro NCAP has tested vehicles sold in Europe since 1997, assessing them in four categories of adult occupant protection, child occupant protection, pedestrian protection and safety assistance systems.
In addition, Hyundai Motor’s Casper Electric sub-compact EV model, branded as Inster in Europe, received a four-star rating, demonstrating a high level of safety despite its smaller vehicle class.
The South Korean automaker said the results reflect its commitment to ensuring top-tier safety standards across its lineup, from entry-level to flagship models.
