SEOUL, Feb. 14 (Korea Bizwire) — Illustrations by a South Korean artist depicting condolences and solidarity is gaining attention after the devastating earthquake that swept through Turkey and Syria.
Cartoon illustrator Myung Min-ho on Friday posted his artworks on Instagram as a gesture of condolence to the victims of the earthquake in Turkey.
The post received 340,000 likes in four days.
Some 12,000 comments of appreciation and support have been posted, including some from Turkish residents.
The first illustration depicts a Korean girl standing next to ruins from the 1950-1953 Korean War. In front of her is a Turkish soldier kneeling on one knee and handing her a water bottle.
The next one depicts a Turkish girl covered in dust next to ruins from the earthquake, drinking from a water bottle handed out by a Korean rescue team.
“Through this painting, I’d like to express my condolences to Turkey, South Korea’s brother nation. May your hearts never fail,” Myung said.
