SEOUL, July 6 (Korea Bizwire)Incheon International Airport Corp., South Korea’s main airport operator, introduced two disinfectant robots and six quarantine guide robots at the airport’s Terminal 2 on Monday.

The robots use 5G networking to monitor quarantine status in the airport in real-time and notify airport authorities.

The self-driving robots are capable of detecting objects, with automatic dock-and-charge features.

Disinfectant robots use ultraviolet-C (UV-C) lamps to sterilize carpets and the air throughout the arrival gate and the quarantine desk.

UV-C are short-wave ultraviolet rays with a wavelength of below 280 nanometers (nm), known for high sterilization capabilities and harmless to humans.

Quarantine guide robots, three of which are placed in each of the the arrivals hall’s east and west corridors, patrol the area to warn travelers violating quarantine restrictions.

The corporation plans to introduce robots at Terminal 1 following the test run of the robots at Terminal 2.
