SEOUL, July 23 (Korea Bizwire) — The Incheon International Airport Corp. (IIAC), South Korea’s main airport operator, has been chosen as the most desirable state-run company by young job seekers.
Job portal Incruit conducted a survey of 1,079 university students across the country, 17.9 percent of whom selected the IIAC as the most desirable place to work among the nation’s state-run companies.
The IIAC has kept the No. 1 spot for four straight years starting from 2018.
The primary reason why the airport operator was chosen as the most desirable state-run firm was “satisfactory wage and reward system’ (19.9 percent).
The company’s starting salary for new college graduates is estimated at about 46.3 million won (US$40,320), the highest among state-run companies.
Following the IIAC was the state-run utility Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO), which maintained its No. 2 spot for the third straight year with 11.8 percent of the respondents selecting it as the most desirable place to work among state-run companies.
Respondents cited ‘satisfactory wage and reward system’ (28.3 percent) and ‘job stability’ (19.5 percent) as the top draws.
The Korea Minting, Security Printing & ID Card Operating Corp. (5.6 percent), the Korea Gas Corp. (5.1 percent) and Kangwon Land Inc. (4.8 percent) rounded out the top five list.
