SEOUL, Aug. 31 (Korea Bizwire) — Incheon international Airport, the country’s main gateway, will start providing an unmanned money exchange service to enable travelers using the airport to exchange money on a non-face-to-face basis without having to visit a bank or currency exchange counters, its operator said Monday.
In collaboration with three commercial banks that operate branches within the airport, the Incheon International Airport Corp. (IIAC) plans to install the unmanned money exchange counters at the entry and departure zones of the No. 2 passenger terminal in February 2022.
The new money exchange booths will be located at the center of the entry and departure zones to make it easier for travelers to find and access them.
Each money exchange zone will have three unmanned money exchange machines, one from each of the three commercial banks.
According to the IIAC, the share of online money exchange among overall money exchange transactions within the airport has been on an upward trend, rising from 36.1 percent in 2017 to 42.3 percent in 2018 and 48.7 percent in 2019.
