SEOUL, Aug. 6 (Korea Bizwire) — Incheon International Airport marked the newest record of the highest number of passengers on August 3. The airport announced on August 4 that a total of 165,453 used the airport on August 3 and that this number is 12 percent higher than the highest number of passengers (147,663) on the same day of last year when most flights were arranged during the peak travel season.

The number of passengers departed was 84,823 and those who landed were 80,630 for this day. The daily number of passengers broke the 150,000 mark on July 26 of this year for the first time since its opening, and not long after the airport set the new record of 155,732 on August 2. And just a day after that, the airport re-set the record of the highest number of passengers.

The number of flights on August 3, consequently, peaked to set the highest number ever as well with 889 flights and a total of whopping 146,704 bags passed the airport’s baggage claims on this day.

Since July 19, the airport has been flooded with travelers flying outbound and tourists coming inbound upon the beginning of the summer vacation season and approximately 140,000 passengers in a day on average have been streaming in and out of the airport since then.

An official of the airport said, “Our airport has prepared for such an upsurge in the number of passengers since as early as last year by establishing special operation measures for safety management and congestion mitigation. We will continue to put our best effort for safe and pleasant trips of our passengers in the remainder of the vacation season.”
