CHUNCHEON, South Korea, March 5 (Korea Bizwire) —  This spring, the vibrant colors of India’s Holi festival will brighten the city of Chuncheon, Gangwon Province. The Gangwon Tourism Organization and the city of Chuncheon announced Wednesday that they will host the 2025 Holi Hai Festival on March 16 at the waterfront park near Chuncheon Bears Hotel.

Inspired by India’s renowned Holi festival, Holi Hai is a lively celebration where participants throw brightly colored powders while dancing and reveling in the festive atmosphere. This event is part of the ‘2025–2026 Visit Gangwon Year’ campaign, designed to offer foreign tourists an immersive cultural experience in the region.

Organized by the Indian International Konnect (IIK) with support from the Gangwon Tourism Organization and Chuncheon City, the festival is expected to draw more than 1,500 attendees, including members of the Indian community in Korea and international visitors.

Running from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the festival will feature an opening ceremony, welcome speeches from dignitaries, K-pop and Indian pop performances, a Bollywood DJ party with the iconic color-throwing tradition, and promotional booths showcasing Gangwon’s tourism highlights.

The Gangwon Tourism Organization is also curating special programs to introduce visitors to the province’s top attractions, local specialties, and traditional cultural experiences.

“This festival will serve as a stepping stone for Gangwon to become a global tourism and festival destination,” said Choi Seong-hyun, CEO of the Gangwon Tourism Organization. “As we celebrate Visit Gangwon Year, we plan to attract more international events to increase foreign tourism to the region.”

With its fusion of Indian festivity and Korean hospitality, the Holi Hai Festival aims to offer a unique and colorful cultural exchange in the heart of Gangwon.
