Indonesia’s Motorcycle ‘Call Taxi’ Service to be Provided Through Line

SEOUL, Feb.26 (Korea Bizwire)Line, an affiliate of Naver that provides mobile messaging services, announced that it is setting foot in the Indonesian O2O (online to offline) market in alliance with a local motorcycle taxi service.

‘Go-JEK’, the Indonesian affiliate of Line, is the No.1 business in motorcycle taxi services. The company operates 200,000 motorcycle taxies in 10 cities including Jakarta and Bali.

Go-JEK will adopt a ‘call taxi’ service for the first time in Indonesia, using Line Business Connect.

Line Business Connect, which was first launched in Japan in 2014, provides various features that businesses can use through an application programming interface (API).

When a user registers for a Line account and touches the image displayed on a chat window with Go-JEK Business Connect, available Go-JEKs nearby are indicated. After checking the destination and fee, the user can call or message the Go-JEK driver of their choice.

Currently, the more than 620,000 users have added Go-JEK’s Line Business Connect. Line also revealed that the number of daily calls increased 750 percent within a month.

Officials from Line Plus say that they plan to establish the service as an O2O platform that goes beyond the realms of communication. “Go-JEK is a popular service among young people in Indonesia, and Line is becoming trendy for users from the 1030 generation. The collaboration between the two companies is showing great results.”
