SEOUL, April 25 (Korea Bizwire) — Addresses will be provided to businesses located inside complex underground shopping streets and subway stations, allowing visitors to locate them more easily and quickly.
The Ministry of Interior and Safety said Monday it had selected 25 local governments to lead the new address system and develop new industries based on addresses, creating new address information service models that can be used in practice.
The project, which will eventually be implemented nationwide, will be divided into a nationally funded project of 2.07 billion won (US$1.54 million) and a locally funded project of 1.2 billion won.
Boryeong in South Chungcheong Province and Andong in North Gyeongsang Province will receive national funds, which will be used to set up infrastructure for drone deliveries to inaccessible areas, as well as commercial parcel and food delivery services.
The city of Daejeon and Seoul’s Seocho District will receive local funds, which will be used to create indoor navigation databases for Daejeon Station and Express Bus Terminal, respectively, as well as to test indoor navigation services.
The aim is to provide indoor navigation services to visitors.
