The Company’s Taoyuan Plant is Recognized as Taiwan’s First Green Copper-Clad Laminate Manufacturing Facility

CHANDLER, Ariz., Dec. 8 (Korea Bizwire) — Isola Group S.a r.l., a market leader in copper-clad laminates and dielectric prepreg materials used to fabricate advanced multilayer Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), announced today that its manufacturing facility in Taoyuan has received the Green Factory Label from Taiwan’s Industry Development Bureau (IDB) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. This award recognizes Taoyuan as the first “green” copper-clad laminate (CCL) factory in Taiwan. The “Green Factory Label System” was developed by the IDB to promote energy conservation and carbon reduction amongst Taiwanese manufacturers in keeping with international trends encouraging enhanced environmental protection.

The Green Factory Label is the world’s first comprehensive certification system that considers not only the environmental benefits arising from the technological advancements within the factory, but also such international sustainability trends as eco-design, green management, social responsibility and innovation. In order for the Taoyuan facility to earn its Green Factory Label, it first had to obtain a “Green Building Label” from the Ministry of the Interior and then pass the “Cleaner Production Assessment Method Evaluation” through the IDB.

Isola made capital Investments in the 20-year-old Taoyuan plant to integrate modern “green” architectural upgrades to reduce carbon emissions. Natural convection and internal airflow control in the facility eliminate heat absorption from the roof, reducing the building’s energy usage, while enhancing the efficiency of its air conditioning system. New LED lighting was installed throughout the facility to reduce energy consumption. Additionally, various water conservation initiatives at Taoyuan incorporate infrastructure improvements to help stop runoff pollution by capturing rainwater, reducing the consumption of blue water and minimizing the generation of gray water.

Matt LaRont, President of Isola Asia-Pacific Ltd., stated, “We are pleased to be recognized by the Taiwanese government for our corporate responsibility initiatives. The Green Factory Label further demonstrates Isola’s commitment to operate all of its manufacturing facilities in a lean and sustainable manner.”
