SEOUL, Sept. 6 (Korea Bizwire) — Demand for travel packages to Japan is rising following the announcement that restrictions on entering the country would be dropped.
South Korean tour agency Hana Tour reported a 413.9 percent increase in the average daily number of travel reservations to Japan between Aug. 29 and Sept. 4 compared to the previous two weeks (Aug. 15-28).
During the same period, the proportion of travel reservations to Japan jumped from 8.3 percent to 26.1 percent.
Among those traveling to Japan in July and August, 39.7 percent were in their 20s and 30s.
Compared with the 16.1 percent reported in July and August 2019, the proportion of travelers in their 20s and 30s, with a high preference for non-package free travel, has jumped significantly.
“As polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests are no longer a requirement in both South Korea and Japan, and non-group travel is now possible in Japan, travel reservations to Japan after October are on the rise,” Hana Tour said.
