JEJU, Jan. 17 (Korea Bizwire) — Exhibitions featuring famous film series such as Harry Potter and Avatar could soon be coming to Jeju Island.
According to the Jeju Free International City Development Center (JDC) on Tuesday, city officials and representatives from German company AWC AG, Europe’s largest blockbuster exhibition agency, have agreed to hold business negotiations in the future.
The JDC officials and AWC AG are set to discuss a number of items including investment projects involving exhibitions and tourism marketing strategy.
Plans for the meeting came about after AWC AG head Andreas Waschk and four employees visited the JDC to introduce the company and discussed the prospects of building a permanent blockbuster exhibition space on the island.
AWC AG reportedly has a number of plans in the works, including one to display blockbuster exhibitions featuring hit films such as Ice Age, Avatar, The Smurfs, and Harry Potter, as well as establishing AWC ASIA through which the company plans to issue content copyright licenses.
The company, which is seeking to ‘establish itself as a leading operator, promoter and developer of touring exhibitions and content for location-based entertainment,’ owns three exhibition spaces in Germany, and has thirty years of experience under its belt, boasting business ties with industry top dogs like GES and FOX.
