JEJU, April 25 (Korea Bizwire) — The number of foreign tourists visiting Jeju Island has increased significantly as restrictions on overseas travel due to COVID-19 have been lifted.
88,875 foreign tourists visited the island from January to April 23 this year, which is 6.8 times more than the 13,154 tourists who visited during the same period last year when overseas tourism was restricted due to the coronavirus.
By nationality, Chinese and Japanese tourists showed significant increases compared to the same period last year.
Currently, Jeju International Airport operates 82 flights a week to nine routes (cities) in six countries, including Osaka, Japan; Nanjing and Shanghai, China; Hong Kong, Taipei, Bangkok, and Singapore.
