JEJU, April 7 (Korea Bizwire) A special call center dedicated to electric vehicle drivers was set up in Jeju to help solve EV-related complaints in the province.

On April 6, Jeju Self-governing Province opened the EV Call Center to offer EV-related information such as road side service, and reports related to charging station malfunctions. EV drivers can benefit from the service by calling 1899-8852 for free. The call center, which is open 24/7, also offers information about EVs, and helps drivers locate charging stations.

Jeju is aiming to be an EV hub in Korea by actively distributing EVs in the province. However, as the number of vehicles increases, there has been demand for a call center to help deal with questions and complaints from EV users.

The number of EVs in the province has rapidly increased from 218 in October 2012, to 469 in 2013 and 852 in 2014. This year, the province plans to sell 1,483 EVs, while offering financial support to each buyer.

For its ambition to be a “Zero Carbon Province,” Jeju plans to replace all the vehicles in the province with EV ones by 2030.
