SEOUL, Nov. 3 (Korea Bizwire) — A new service introduced on Thursday will provide transportation between Jeju International Airport, tourist hotspots and hotels with self-driving vehicles.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that it will introduce an autonomous driving car mobility service on coastal roads on the island and in the Jungmun Tourist Complex.
The service will provide free self-driven transportation to tourists and local residents until next year.
Three self-driving vehicles will run every weekday from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. A specialist will be present in the driver’s seat to address any emergencies.
Two self-driving vehicles that will run between major tourist spots in Jeju will be available for reservation up to 14 days before the visit. Users can freely set the destination at the station.
One self-driving vehicle that will operate at the Jungmun Tourist Complex can be hailed in real-time. Choosing the station set as the point of departure, users will be able to go anywhere within a two-kilometer radius of the point of departure.
