JEONJU, Dec.22 (Korea Bizwire) – The local government of Jeonju has designated an airway for drones, and announced that it will concentrate on fostering businesses related to drones.
The drone business in Jeonju is gaining momentum as the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport selected Jeonju as a ‘Drone Zone’ to test the safety of new businesses using drones.
The city will establish special areas to fly drones, and verify the uses of drones in national land surveys and cadastral surveys.
The area near Wansan Park in Jeonju is the location of the new drone zone. Tests and experiments on high-altitude flights, long distance flights and night flights will be run in the zone.
To prepare for eventual drone use in administration, education centers, storage for drones and research centers that study unmanned air vehicles will be built.
Using the drones, the city plans to create content to attract tourists who visit the Jeonju Hanok Village, where six million visitors come every year.
