JEONJU, April 11 (Korea Bizwire) — The city of Jeonju in North Jeolla Province will host the 16th Jeonju B-Boy Grand Prix at the outdoor stage in the National Intangible Heritage Center on May 5, officials said Monday.
The competition was first held in 2007 after the South Korean breaking crew Last For One won a world championship in Germany. The competition has been held annually ever since.
About 20 popular local B-boy teams are expected to participate in the competition.
On May 4, one day prior to the competition, the festival’s eve ceremony will take place, inviting street dancers from various genres.
B-boying, also known as breaking or break dancing, is a hip-hop dance that features stylish footwork and power moves, like head or back spins.
