SEOUL, Aug. 30 (Korea Bizwire)With South Koreans cheering for Jincheon, which has accepted ‘persons of special merit’ from Afghanistan, the county’s online shopping mall that sells local produce has been shut down due to server overload.

On the county’s Jincheon Mall website, a notice was posted on Sunday saying that all item sales had been temporarily suspended.

The notice said that the mall has been experiencing “skyrocketing orders of all items, thanks to the support and love from all customers,” explaining that “the suspension was inevitable to process all of the orders, which have already been delayed.”

The day before, Jincheon Mall posted a letter of appreciation and a notice of delays, and the decision was made to suspend all sales shortly thereafter.

Jincheon Mall received some 1,500 orders, which is 20 times more than the average volume on weekends, after Afghan evacuees arrived at the National Human Resources Development Institute last Friday.

Most of the items are produced and delivered for each order, so the producers have also seen a production overload.

The County plans to process all of the delayed orders before the website reopens for orders on Wednesday.

Jincheon Mall is a non-profit shopping mall run by Jincheon County that sells local products. All revenue goes directly to the producers.
