JINDO, Mar. 15 (Korea Bizwire) – The 44th Jindo Miracle Sea Road Festival, held under the theme “The Beginning of Spring, at the Enigmatic Sea,” concluded successfully, attracting tens of thousands of visitors.
Designated as an honorary cultural tourism festival by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the event took place from March 11 to 13 in Hoedong-ri, Gogun-myeon, Jindo County.
To ensure the festival’s success, Jindo County hosted online promotional events and shared real-time updates through official social media channels throughout the festival.
Despite the cloudy weather on the opening day, the festival kicked off with a lively performance by the Jindo County Folk Art Troupe, followed by a special performance by Song Ga-in, a popular singer from Jindo, which was met with enthusiastic cheers from the audience and fans.
The second day of the festival coincided with a recording of KBS National Singing Contest at the special stage set up at Gagye Beach, drawing crowds from across the country.
Visitors were treated to a variety of folk culture performances unique to Jindo, including a variety of traditional rituals, folk songs, and musical performances.
The festival also featured nighttime content such as the Bong Halmoni (Silkworm Grandmother) Family Parade, Namdo Pungmul Masters Exhibition, and a romantic event pairing 44 couples as “Gyeonu and Jiknyeo”, characters from a famous Korean folkore tale, on the sea path.
Multimedia laser shows and virtual reality experiences of the sea path were among the attractions that captivated visitors in the evenings.
Local stalls offering high-quality agricultural and marine products like Jindo turmeric, goji berries, black rice, seaweed, and kelp at affordable prices helped stimulate the local economy, drawing significant consumer interest.
Jindo County Mayor Kim Hee-soo expressed gratitude to the visitors who braved the cold weather to enjoy the festival safely. He pledged to continue developing diverse programs to elevate the Jindo Mystic Sea Road Festival to global acclaim.
