JINJU, April 4 (Korea Bizwire) — The municipal government of Jinju in South Gyeongsang Province said Monday that its Pavilion of Floating Lights won the “Honor” Award at the Canadian Wood Council’s Wood Design & Building Awards.
The Pavilion of Floating Lights, completed in March last year, is a wooden building that was created by reinterpreting the traditional roof curve, pillar and ‘dapo’ format of the Chokseoknu Pavilion in a modern style.
In particular, its six wooden columns, made up of hundreds of tightly intertwined wooden pieces, evoke admiration from viewers.
With a glass facade, the Pavilion of Floating Lights harmonizes with the beautiful scenery of the Nam River, thus emerging as a new tourist attraction in Jinju.
