SEOUL, March 3 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korean auto giant Hyundai Motor Co. on Thursday launched the recruitment of new employees for its production line for the first time in 10 years, with its online application website undergoing delays due to heavy traffic.
There are no restrictions on age or gender as long as applicants are high school graduates or higher.
Hyundai plans to hire 400 new production workers this year and another 400 next year.
The carmaker emphasized that the purpose of the recruitment is to hire mobility technical staff to better cope with the changing face of the industry, including electrification, adding that the hiring process will be fair and transparent.
Access to the company’s online application website was delayed as soon as it opened to new applicants, as job seekers flooded the site to get more information or to submit their applications.
The number of applicants waiting to access the website was estimated at more than 20,000 at its peak.
The average annual salary for Hyundai’s office and production line workers stood at 96 million won (US$73,350) in 2021, according to industry sources.
