Jung District Introduces Windproof Tents at Select Bus Stops

SEOUL, Jan. 5 (Korea Bizwire) — Windproof tents have been introduced at a number of bus stops in Seoul’s Jung District.

According to the Jung-gu District Office on Thursday, the tents dubbed ‘ongitong’, which means ‘warmth tub’ in English, were set up at 16 bus stops located within the district to help passengers withstand Seoul’s frigid winter temperatures.

Bus stops in areas with a significant floating population, such as Myeong-dong, Namdaemun Market, Dongdaemun Design Plaza, and Yaksu Station have been chosen to receive the special heating treatment.

Standing 2.8 meters tall with a surface area of 4.5 square meters, passengers in the movable and foldable tents can view bus schedules without going outside, making the waiting time much less painful on a cold day.

“We have set up a tent at the airport bus stop located outside exit 8 of Myeongdong Station for international tourists,” an official from the Jung-gu District Office said.
