SEOUL, Nov. 11 (Korea Bizwire)A South Korean mixed martial arts fighter has been indicted on charges of fraud, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Choi Hong-man is accused of not paying back HK$710,000 (US$91,600) to an acquaintance.

Prosecutors have said Choi borrowed the money from his acquaintance in Hong Kong in 2013 to buy watches for himself and his girlfriend.

They also said Choi borrowed 25.5 million won from another acquaintance in October last year, though he did not pay back the money.

Prosecutors said Choi had reached a deal with the two acquaintances, but they said they would still press charges.

Still, Choi is not being held in custody pending trial.

Choi was a former champion of “ssirum” — a traditional Korean form of wrestling. In 2004, he made a splash by switching from the embattled sport of ssirum to the K-1 mixed martial arts league.
