SEOUL, May 4 (Korea Bizwire) The popularity of K-pop remains strong in Thailand, but fans are becoming increasingly frustrated over the soaring concert prices.

According to Thai media outlet MGR Online, the average price of a K-pop concert ticket in Thailand this year has reached 5,270 Thai baht (US$155), which is a 17.9 percent increase from the pre-pandemic era in 2019 and a 59.6 percent increase from 10 years ago.

For instance, a single VIP ticket for the BLACKPINK concerts scheduled for May 27th and 28th at the Rajamangala Stadium costs 14,800 baht.

In October of last year, a Stray Kids fan club submitted a petition to the Office of the Consumer Protection Board of Thailand to complain about ticket prices.

The most expensive ticket for the Stray Kids concert in Bangkok in February of this year cost 8,500 baht.

Complaints regarding ticket prices have been an ongoing issue in Thailand.

Industry sources suggest that 10 years ago, sponsors covered 70 percent of the concert budget, whereas now, that figure has dropped to less than 30 percent, resulting in an increase in ticket prices.
