Kakao Bank Tops Latest Banking Apps Rankings

SEOUL, Dec. 22 (Korea Bizwire) – Kakao Bank was the most popular banking app among South Korean iPhone users last month, pollster App Annie has found.

According to the global mobile app analyst, Kakao Bank had the highest number of monthly active users in November of all mobile banking apps, leaving behind the likes of KB Star Banking, Toss, and Syrup Wallet.

Since its launch in July, Kakao Bank has enjoyed growing popularity, as users welcomed its simple transaction service which doesn’t require a trip to a bank or having to use the government’s official electronic certificate system.

Kakao Bank proved popular among Android users also, ranking seventh last month alongside the major banks’ mobile apps.

“Kakao Bank has emerged as a strong contender to traditional banks, with its simpler banking services as a strongpoint,” App Annie said.

When it comes to travel apps, Kakao T was the most popular app in November, while Naver Map topped the Android chart.
