Kakao Enterprise Develops AI Chatbot for Medical Examinations

SEOUL, Sept. 7 (Korea Bizwire)Kakao Enterprise Corp., an artificial intelligence (AI) unit of the mobile messenger operator Kakao Corp., said Tuesday it had joined hands with Kangbuk Samsung Hospital to jointly develop a medical examination-assisting guide bot based on its AI chatbot Kakao i Connect Talk.

The development of a medical examination-assisting chatbot would be a first in the South Korean healthcare industry, the company said.

Kakao i Connect Talk is an AI chatbot service that can communicate alerts, promotions and consultations through a single channel of Kakao’s mobile messenger KakaoTalk.

The guidebot allows users to receive guidance on medical examination rooms through KakaoTalk when they refer to the reception on the day of the medical examination.

During the medical examination, they can also leave questions on the number of remaining procedures and the number of standby hours through KakaoTalk and receive answers through the chatbot.

The two parties reached an agreement to improve the efficiency of the medical examination process by using the guidebot as well as to expand the scope of an AI-based call center system to explore future hospital services.
