SEOUL, Aug. 3 (Korea Bizwire)Kakao Corp. said Wednesday it has released a new archiving feature for inactive chatrooms in its mobile messenger KakaoTalk through the most recent update.

The newly introduced service archives and hides inactive chatrooms that the user does not wish to leave.

Archived chatrooms will not send out new notifications or be counted in the ‘badge count,’ which indicates the number of unread messages on KakaoTalk.

To archive a chatroom, users can either press and hold on the chatroom or swipe the screen left or right and tap ‘archive.’

The chatroom archive will be listed in the upper corner of the chat tab, and none of the archived chatrooms will send any notifications.

New messages in an archived chatroom will be indicated on the archive as a gray-colored number and will not be included in the ‘badge count.’

Kakao stated that this new feature will help users avoid any inconvenience arising from an added badge count while they are on vacation and stockpiling message notifications.
