JEONGSEON, March 28 (Korea Bizwire) — Kangwon Land is moving forward with plans to construct an infinity pool as a signature facility at the High1 Grand Hotel, marking its first non-casino development under the K-HIT (High1 Integrated Tourism) Project 1.0 announced last year.
The company’s board of directors approved the construction plan and additional investment budget during its 220th meeting on March 27. The project represents a strategic step toward transforming the resort into a premier global destination in Asia.
With an investment of 7.5 billion won, the company plans to complete construction by December. The facility will span a total area of 1,421.9 square meters, featuring a 516-square-meter infinity pool, a 40-square-meter temperature-controlled pool, and a 52.9-square-meter children’s pool. The development will also include a 532-square-meter cabana and parasol zone, along with a 281-square-meter F&B and check-in center.
Located at an elevation of 800 meters, making it South Korea’s highest-altitude pool, the facility will offer panoramic views of the Baekdudaegan mountain range. Visitors will be able to enjoy the fresh mountain climate in summer and experience winter snow views while immersed in warm water. The company also plans to offer various wellness programs in conjunction with its indoor and outdoor wellness centers.
“The infinity pool will serve as a key facility providing guests with distinctive opportunities for rest and healing, becoming a landmark attraction synonymous with Kangwon Land,” said CEO Choi Cheol-gyu. “We will ensure it creates synergy with the entertainment facilities in the upcoming second casino venue.”
