JEONGSUN, July 6 (Korea Bizwire) — Kangwon Land Inc., the state-run casino operator in Jeongsun, Gangwon Province, said Wednesday it will invest 5.7 billion won (US$4.38 million) to produce 631,200 new casino chips by 2024.
This will mark the third replacement of chips at the casino since 2003, with all the old chips being gradually phased out and scrapped.
Given the frequent exchange of chips among customers, dealers, and others at the casino, concerns regarding their sanitation have been raised.
The upcoming chips will feature denominations of 5,000 won, 10,000 won, 100,000 won, and 1 million won, all incorporating advanced high-security technology.
