SEOUL, Jun. 4 (Korea Bizwire) — KB Kookmin Bank launched a new OTP (one-time password) generating security card that does not require customers to manually write down generated OTPs.
The new ‘Smart OTP Service’ is comprised of a credit card-type OTP generator that only needs to be put near a smartphone to authenticate a trade.
Existing OTP generators were in the shape of a small token and required another process, other than typing down the generated key, which involves authentication through SMS or an IVR.
The card-type generator does not need batteries as the token types do, and can be used for internet banking, smartphone banking and phone banking.
Smart OTP generators can be found at 30 Kookmin branches for now and all branches in Korea starting next month.
