SEOUL, May 18 (Korea Bizwire)State-run utility Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) has teamed up with Kakao Mobility Corp., the country’s top taxi-hailing company, to provide a new electric vehicle (EV) charging service.

The two parties recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to promote cooperation for the service development needed for the establishment of the new EV charging platform.

The partnership will provide a ‘charging planner’ service that features a combination of KEPCO’s ChargeLink service with Kakao Mobility’s navigation app Kakao Navi.

This service will enable users to find the optimal route to charging stations, while allowing them to complete payments.

ChargeLink is an open platform designed to promote partnership among EV charging service providers, aimed at enabling them to operate even in areas where they have no direct charging stations.

In such areas, customers can charge EVs using the charging stations run by other partner companies.

KEPCO is also set to develop a simple settlement service that provides a discount for parking fees.

The service will be used for the Kakao T Parking run by Kakao Mobility. Through a connection with KEPCO’s ChargeLink, the parking lots will offer automatic discounts to EVs when they exit after being charged.
