SEOUL, Jun. 4 (Korea Bizwire) — Seoul Namdaemun Police Station rescued a kestrel, a bird of prey species classified as South Korea’s Natural Monument No. 323, and delivered the bird to the Korean Association for Bird Protection (KABP) on Sunday.
The kestrel strolled into the substation at 7:20 a.m. on a Sunday morning. The police put the bird in a cage and contacted animal protection agencies, before delivering the bird to the KABP.
“We had a similar experience in the past, so we knew the bird was a protected species,” said the police.
“It seems like the kestrel fell behind during training with its mother,” said the bird protection agency. “We will keep the bird safe until it reaches adulthood, ready for release.”
