SEOUL, Jan. 16 (Korea Bizwire)KG Mobility Corp. said Thursday that it has signed a technical cooperation agreement with Phinia Delphi France SAS to jointly develop hydrogen engine technology.

Under the agreement, the companies will cooperate in a South Korean government project involving the development of a low-cost commercial hydrogen engine together with the Korea Automotive Technology Institute.

A signing ceremony was held at KG Mobility’s research center in Pyeongtaek, south of Seoul, on Wednesday.

The project aims to develop a 2-liter diesel-based hydrogen engine and a vehicle capable of multipurpose applications, including industrial and passenger use.

Phinia Delphi France, a global leader in critical engine components, will supply fuel injection equipment systems and electronic control unit technologies. These will be integrated with KG Mobility’s proprietary diesel engine technologies.

“This collaboration will not only enable us to develop cutting-edge hydrogen engines but also pave the way for new markets, such as alternative fuel vehicles and eco-friendly pickups,” an official at KG Mobility said.
