SEOUL, April 17 (Korea Bizwire) – Kia Corp., a smaller affiliate of South Korea’s top automaker Hyundai Motor Co., said Thursday its all-electric EV3 has been named 2025 World Car of the Year at the New York International Auto Show.
The EV3′s achievement brings Kia’s number of wins at the World Car Awards to six since 2020, the company said in a press release.
“This award highlights Kia’s global leadership in providing design-led, technologically advanced, sustainable mobility solutions and how the EV3′s class-leading attributes redefine the user experience for customers worldwide,” Kia President and Chief Executive Song Ho-sung said in the release.
The compact EV3 sport utility vehicle (SUV) can run up to 605 kilometers on a single charge and charge from 10-80 percent in 31 minutes, it said.
The awards were voted on by a panel of 96 automotive journalists from 30 countries, with the largest group coming from the United States, the world’s most important automobile market.
