SEOUL, Nov. 9 (Korea Bizwire) – Hyundai Motor Group affiliate Kia Motors launched Tuesday the second generation K2 in China, making fast inroads into the local auto market. Marketed as the Kia Rio elsewhere, the K2 is a subcompact sedan first introduced there in 2011.
The new model, according to Kia, best reflects the needs of Chinese consumers, equipped with boosted engine capacity, driving performance, and safety, as well as high-tech amenities such as a smart trunk, an air purification system, and Apple CarPlay.
According to officials, the K2 is the most popular Kia model in China, with 774,027 units sold from 2011 until October 2016.
