SEOUL, Dec. 4 (Korea Bizwire) – Kia Motors Corp., the country’s second-largest carmaker by sales, has launched the upgraded K7 sedan as part of its efforts to bolster sales, the company said Monday.
On Monday, Kia began to sell the facelifted K7 full-size sedan in five versions in the domestic market. The carmaker has added a 3.0-liter gasoline-powered K7 model with an eight-speed automatic transmission to its existing four models to give customers more options, Kia said in a statement.
The existing four models are equipped with a 3.3-liter gasoline engine with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, a 2.2-liter diesel engine and a 2.4-liter gasoline engine, both with a six-speed automatic gearbox, it said.
The K7 models, called the Cadenza in the United States, are priced at 31 million won-40 million won (US$28,500-$37,000), the statement said.
In the January-November period, Kia sold 2.49 million vehicles, 475,048 units domestically and 2.02 million overseas.
Given the “sluggish” sales so far, the company widely expects to miss its sales target of 3.17 million autos globally for 2017.
