SEOUL, Jan. 17 (Korea Bizwire) — Kia Corp. said Friday it has commenced mass production of Syros, the automaker’s new global strategic compact sport utility vehicle (SUV), in India.
The South Korean automaker held a ceremony Thursday at its production plant in Andhra Pradesh, India, to mark the occasion, with attendees including Kia CEO Song Ho-sung and other company executives, along with over 200 local employees.
The Syros was first unveiled globally in India in December. It is designed as an urban SUV equipped with advanced features, including a smart connectivity system and a spacious interior that exceeds its class standards.
Key features include sliding and reclining rear seats with ventilation functions, advanced driver assistance systems and dual panoramic sunroofs.
Kia plans to announce the pricing for Syros and begin sales in India next month. The company intends to expand its sales footprint to other regions, including the Asia-Pacific, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East.
“The Syros reflects extensive customer feedback, incorporating advanced features and a comfortable interior space,” Song said. “We aim to deliver unique value to Indian customers and further strengthen our presence in the Indian market.”
