Kia Teases Redesigned Sportage SUV, Plans Netflix Collaboration


SEOUL, Oct. 24 (Korea Bizwire) – Kia Motors unveiled teaser images and video on October 24 of its refreshed Sportage SUV, marking the first major update to the popular compact SUV in three years.

The Sportage, Kia’s flagship compact SUV now in its 31st year of production, has sold more than 7.6 million units globally, cementing its position as one of the brand’s most successful models.

The teaser materials showcase the vehicle’s silhouette and new lighting elements, featuring Kia’s signature Star Map lighting design in both the daytime running lights (DRL) and rear combination lamps.

The design creates what Kia describes as an imposing presence that transcends its segment. The SUV’s profile is characterized by a sporty roofline and muscular proportions, emphasizing its dynamic character.

In an innovative marketing move, Kia announced plans to collaborate with Netflix on the upcoming second season of “Squid Game,” including promotional content, merchandise, and exhibitions.

The Sportage, which debuted in 1993 as what Kia calls “the world’s first urban SUV,” has consistently earned positive reviews from customers. The company says the new model will maintain the brand’s heritage while incorporating innovative features to enhance the customer experience.

The automaker plans to release complete details about the new Sportage in November, including comprehensive design reveals, specifications, and pricing information.

A promotional video showcasing the new lighting design and vehicle silhouette was released on Kia’s official YouTube channel, KiaTV.
