SEOUL, March 24 (Korea Bizwire) — Kia Corp. said Wednesday it will hold an eco-friendly fundraising event synced to the 2022 League of Legends (LOL) Champions Korea spring playoffs, making donations based on DWG KIA’s performance throughout the championship.
It is the country’s first time to see an esports sponsor join in collaboration with a team to operate a charity program.
The carmaker and its management staff will save up funds based on DWG KIA’s performance, and make donations for environmental protection following the 2022 season.
Inspired by the polar bear lookalike DWG KIA player Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu, the donations will be used to protect polar bear habitat and preserve biological diversity.
