SEOUL, May 20 (Korea Bizwire) – In a testament to its exceptional design and performance, Kia’s EV6 has outperformed the Volkswagen ID.5 GTX in a recent comparative evaluation conducted by the renowned German automotive publication Autobild.
Widely regarded as one of Germany’s top three automotive magazines, alongside Auto Motor und Sport and Auto Zeitung, Autobild subjected the two electric sport utility vehicles (SUVs) to a comprehensive assessment across seven categories: body and convenience, powertrain, driving performance, connectivity, environmental friendliness, and cost-effectiveness.
According to Kia, the EV6 emerged victorious with an impressive overall score of 570 points, surpassing the ID.5 GTX, which received 564 points. The Korean automaker’s electric SUV excelled in several areas, including body and powertrain, driving performance, environmental friendliness, and cost-effectiveness.
One notable highlight was the EV6′s rapid charging capability, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes, outperforming the ID.5 GTX, which took 28 minutes for the same charge level. Additionally, the EV6 demonstrated superior braking performance, recording a stopping distance of 33.9 meters from 100 km/h, compared to the ID.5 GTX’s 37.5 meters.
Autobild commended the EV6, stating, “The EV6 boasts spacious interior dimensions and an ultra-fast charging system. It is an attractive vehicle that combines outstanding performance and design.”
The EV6′s accolades extend beyond this recent evaluation. In 2022, it became the first Korean vehicle to be named the European Car of the Year, and in 2023, it received the prestigious North American Utility Vehicle of the Year award in the SUV category.
Kia recently introduced an updated EV6 in the domestic market, showcasing improvements to the vehicle’s product lineup.
