SEOUL, March 18 (Korea Bizwire) — North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un visited a cosmetics factory in Pyongyang on February 4 and rebuked factory personnel over the quality of the factory’s cosmetic products.

Kim admonished employees over the poor quality of the North Korean products compared to foreign cosmetics, saying that “foreign eyeliners and mascaras stay intact even after getting in the water, however, North Korean eyeliners and mascaras get smudged even after one yawn, resulting in panda eyes.”

Kim also mentioned exact names of international cosmetic brands, such as Lancome, Chanel, Christian Dior and Shiseido, and demanded that the personnel make products that could compete with these high-end cosmetic brands. Kim Jong-Un’s special visit to the factory was covered by a newspaper published by a North Korea oriented association for Korean-Japanese on March 17.

Kim Jong-un’s visit was considered to be a part of his political strategy to present himself trying to develop North Korea by straightforward honesty, not by hiding imperfections.
