SEOUL, Jun. 22 (Korea Bizwire) — “The Producers,” a KBS drama about television producers, ended on June 20 with its 12th episode garnering viewership of 17.7 percent, setting a new record for the series, according to Nielson Korea.
The series started on May 15 with its first episode marking a viewing rate of 10.1 percent.
Although the KBS drama was criticized at the start, as it did not deliver the fun that the interesting storyline had promised, positive reviews started to flow in as actors and actresses gave engaging performances.
Kim Soo-Hyun, who played a young variety show producer, embodied a sympathetic naive-yet-stubborn character. He proved his good acting skills by interpreting the role with dedication.
He also proved that he is a highly trusted star for television series, amplifying the focus on “The Producers” day-by-day.
Cha Tae-Hyun and Gong Hyo-Jin also delivered strong performances with their natural acting.
IU, who played an arrogant and sexy top-star, also received positive reviews as she made the character’s pain and loneliness quite believable, although she was criticized at the beginning of the series.
“The Producers” was a novel approach to a drama, as it showed backstage stories behind famous variety shows.
However, as it listed episodes by episodes to make up a storyline, the drama is said to have fallen into monotonous moments from time to time.
