SEOUL, Korea, Nov 13 (Korea Bizwire) –The local dairy market sees rising appetite for cheese products, while dwindling demand for milk. Shift in needs from the elementary and junior high schools — the traditional main buyers of milk products– is said to have resulted in these notable trends.
According to the “Actual Conditions for Milk Consumption at the Elementary and Junior High schools,” a report conducted by Korea Association for Dairy Farm Cheese (KADFC), the total amount of crude milk supplied to the schools witnessed a gradual decrease for three years in a row, as of last year. As opposed to the shrinkage in demand for milk, the cheese consumption is showing an increase, raising the bright prospect for the local cheese market.
