POCHEON, Aug. 9 (Korea Bizwire)The Korea National Arboretum in the city of Pocheon, northeast of Seoul said Tuesday it has introduced 20 long-horned beetles into the arboretum this year.

This endangered beetle species has been officially designated as a natural monument by the government.

Since 2018, the arboretum has been releasing artificially bred long-horned beetles into their natural habitat, employing GPS devices to monitor their movements and behaviors, thus ensuring the preservation of the species and facilitating studies on their range and behavior patterns.

In the current year, the arboretum adopted a strategy of releasing long-horned beetles in groups of five, a method designed to enhance the efficiency of tracking.

The final batch of five beetles was released into the arboretum earlier this month.

The Korea National Arboretum stands as the sole recognized habitat for long-horned beetles in the entire country.
