SEOUL, Feb. 18 (Korea Bizwire) – The Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) is set to carry out various promotional and safety-related measures as part of preparations for a massive inflow of Chinese tourists during the Spring Festival, China’s most celebrated holiday.

The MCST is planning to conduct monitoring, which will be operated by the Korean police (shown below), on any illegal or low standard tourist services that might cause unpleasant incidents for Chinese tourists, whose number is expected to reach 126,000 during this Spring Festival.

Several promotional events will take place at Incheon International Airport, Myeong-dong, Hongdae and Namdaemun from February 16 to 23. The MCST is planning to expand free Wi-Fi zones around the nation’s 307 Tourist Information Centers since Chinese tourists are known to use their smartphones extensively to access tourism information in Korea.

The number of Chinese tourists re-visiting Korea has increased 57.7 percent over the last three years.
