SEOUL, Sept.7 (Korea Bizwire) – Youkes (Chinese tourists) have chosen Korea as the kindest country they have visited.
According to Hotels.com, an online hotel reservation site, 14 percent of Chinese tourists answered that Korea was the kindest country they have visited, with Thailand (9 percent) and Japan (7 percent) ranked next.
The countries that Chinese tourists visited the most were the U.S., Thailand, Hong Kong, Japan and Taiwan. Korean ranked 6th.
Korea also ranked 10th in terms of Youkes’ expenditures on accommodations, with an average of 155,311 won per day.
The number of Chinese visitors has dropped since the outbreak of MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome), but is gradually recovering. Authorities and officials are taking measures to bring the Youkes back to Korea.
On August 25, an exchange group of 400 individuals consisting of officials from local governments and tour companies visited Beijing to promote Korea.
Since important Chinese holidays like Chinese Thanksgiving (September 26-27) and the National Day of the People’s Republic of China (October 1-7) are coming up, Hotel Silla and Everland hosted a presentation in Shanghai to promote tourism in Korea.
In addition, the exemption of visa commissions will be prolonged to the end of October, which is another factor that will attract Chinese visitors.
