SEOUL, Aug. 17 (Korea Bizwire) – Korea will host the 33rd Congress of the FIAP (Fédération Internationale de l’Art Photographique) from August 22 to 28 in Seoul and Gyeongju, a historic city located in South Gyeongsang Province. FIAP is an international photography organization with more than 85 national associations as members.

The Photo Artist Society of Korea (PASK), which first joined the federation in 2006, is among the members.

According to PASK officials, this year’s bi-annual congress will be the biggest of its kind, attended by 400 overseas photographers from 87 member associations, as well as 150 domestic photo artists, and will also feature two main events: the Seoul Photo Festival with FIAP, and FIAP Black & White Biennial Exhibition.

The Seoul festival will take place on August 22 and 23 at Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung, Namsangol Hanok Village, N Seoul Tower, and Seonyudo Park. With over 350 international photographers and citizens participating, the festival will allow professional and hobby photographers to exchange their ideas and visions while capturing views of Seoul’s most iconic attractions.

The FIAP Black & White Biennial Exhibition will follow right after, taking place from August 24 to 28 at Gyeongju’s Sorabol Culture Hall. The exhibit will present 480 works by artists from 48 different countries. The award ceremony for the biennial’s public contest, which took place in May, will also take place during the exhibition.

“As an organization that represents Korea’s photograph art, we’ll do our best to host a successful FIAP congress, which brings together photographers from around the world,” said Yang Jae-hun, chief director at PASK. “The events will provide an opportunity for participants to ponder the value and meaning of coexistence and interaction.”
