SEOUL, July 3 (Korea Bizwire) — A Korean artist has been attracting attention in the U.S. with a charcoal statue installed at the Rockefeller Center Channel Gardens in New York.
The artwork is part of the “Issu du Feu” series by Lee Bae, who has been utilizing charcoal as his medium for over three decades.
The charcoal statue measures 6.3 meters in height, 4.5 meters in width, and weighs 3.6 tons.
Lee assembled charcoal sourced from Cheongdo, North Gyeongsang Province, between the Rockefeller Center and Saks Fifth Avenue Department Store.
Lee is the first Korean artist to present an outdoor sculpture at the Channel Gardens at Rockefeller Center.
The exhibition featuring the charcoal statue will conclude on July 23.
