SEOUL, Feb. 24 (Korea Bizwire) — Many Korean employees consider themselves as indispensable assets of their companies. According to job search company Byeoruk Sijang’s survey conducted on 1,124 employees, 76.4 percent of the respondents answered that they are irreplaceable individuals at their companies.

The respondents also gave scores for their accomplishments at work. On a 100 point scale, 48.8 percent appraised themselves as scoring 80 to 90 points, while 31.5 percent said that they belonged to an average level of 70 to 80 points. A confident 14.8 percent of the respondents said that they were core assets of the company, worthy of more than 90 points, while only 0.4 percent said that they saw themselves as waiting to be fired, scoring less than 60 points.

More than half of the respondents answered that the most important criterion on their self-appraisements was their ability to execute, while 19.8 percent said that they regarded themselves highly for their leadership and social skills. Only 12.5 percent thought that their irreplaceable skill set was what made them assess themselves highly, while 9.5 percent said that their self-appraisements were based on their contribution to profit or sales increases.

The respondents, however, were prone to ascribe any gap between their self-appraisements and their companies’ appraisements to misinformation on the part of their employers.
