SEOUL, April 5 (Korea Bizwire) — Koreans from all around the world are stepping up to help Ukrainian refugees who have fled from their homes following Russia’s invasion of their country.
The Korean American Federation of Los Angeles and the Hwarang Youth Foundation sent US$500 as the first round of donations to each of the 10 Korean families in Ukraine.
The two organizations also sent 1,000 kilograms of potatoes to Korean and Ukrainian students left behind in school dormitories in Ukraine.
The Asian American Youth Council (AAYC) donated 10 million won (US$8,250) to the Ukrainian embassy in South Korea last month to support the country’s emergency relief efforts.
The Peaceful Unification Advisory Council Toronto collected 4,226 relief items including sleeping bags, masks and medicines at a local Ukrainian Orthodox church that has been in charge of delivering aid to the war victims.
Korean associations in Germany donated 2,440 euros to the Ukrainian general consulate in Dusseldorf.
